Haf. Chayei Sarah (1 Kings 1:1-31)

Join Beth Tikkun as we continue our study of the Haftarah portions for the 2013-14 Torah cycle. In this teaching we consider David’s final great act as king of Israel. We also look at David’s son, Adonijah, and his ambitious attempt to become king as we analyze the power of the ego and how it can be conquered.

hard to grasp–this ego thing. i think i can begin at: “the part of you that is able to recognize the ego is the same part that is able to recognize God.”

Is “ego” and all its deceptions the same as the “self” to which one must die?

Exactly! When we relinquish the ego, we discover the true self which we recognize is His all along.
