Haf. Noach (Isaiah 54:1-10)

Join Beth Tikkun as we begin our study of the Haftarah portions for the 2013-14 Torah cycle. In this teaching we are introduced to the structure of the Hebrew Bible — the Tanach — and learn how in ancient times a concluding reading from the Prophets was included in the weekly Torah reading. We then consider some insights from Isaiah 54 and also discuss chapter 53 and how it is handled by various Jewish sources. (NOTE: Normally our study of the Haftarah portions would begin with Barasheitbut Beth Tikkun did not hold service that week. Thus we start with Haf. Noach.)
