Haf. Tzav (Jeremiah 7:21-8:3, 9:23-24)

Join Beth Tikkun as we continue our study of the Haftarah portions for the 2013-14 Torah cycle. In this study we show we tend to allow spiritual life to degenerate into empty ritual and how we can resist this tendency. We consider how Jeremiah’s warnings apply to both the modern church and to rabbinic Judaism. We finish by taking a close look at an amazing Hebrew word for which there is no English translation, and we also discover what theĀ chametz (leaven) of God is, as opposed to “the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy” (Luke 12:1).
