1 Corinthians: Intro and Ch. 1a

Our first teaching on the Corinthian letters begins with timely thoughts related to the Sabbath and gathering at home as we enter another Covid-19 at-home period. Turning to Corinthians, we briefly touch on the key issues that add up to a rather wild pair of Paul’s letters before reviewing the beginnings of this Greek assembly in Acts 18. While in Acts, we touch upon Paul’s “tentmaking” approach to ministry and the idea of home fellowships. We then begin 1 Cor. chapter 1 by reviewing some religious jargon in our English translations, focusing particularly on the word “church” and replacing many of the key words in verses 1-3 to create a translation with more “punch.”

I appreciate your podcasts and I have been listening for a while. I live in Arizona and before COVID occasionally went to Living Messiah. I have learned a lot from listening, but one thing I must suggest, since your ministry has been doing this for a long time. You really should purchase some professional audio gear, as it seems to be hit and miss with these podcasts, either the volume is too low, or I can never hear the audience ask questions. Honestly, this should have been high on your priority list, and I hope that in the near future it will be. Are you lacking the funds to purchase this equipment? Let me know if I can help, thanks.

Thank you, John. I agree and we are working on it.

My apologies, John, for the often-times subpar audio. We have been trying some new things and have also moved to a different location and set-up, so hopefully you will see (or, rather, hear) some improvements over the days to come. And thank you so much for your generous offer to help! God bless you for that.
