2 Timothy 1b

Join us as we once again receive instruction from the wonderful book of Second Timothy. In this teaching, we delve into four basic states of the conscience; we ask the question, “How do we achieve a clean and good conscience?” we examine Paul’s list of the major themes in the Word; and we take a valuable lesson from Abraham’s camp between Beth El and Ai.

Thank you for this lovely teaching – so true! Let me add something to the discussion at the end. While I see the truth in the idea that the liturgy in one way stands in for the Temple service, there are yet other aspects of our walk that fulfill even more deeply the sacrificial system: every time we “slay” the beastly drives of the nephesh within ourselves and redirect them toward the service of G-d, we offer the beast within as a sacrifice to Him and, thus, draw near to Him. This is perhaps the essence of what is being pictured in the sacrificial system, this death of the physical, instinctual drives and redirection to Him. While we have lost the Temple service for a time, the essence of what they picture has always happened within the individual human being whose body is a Temple.
