Genesis 37a
In this Torah Project teaching, we begin by addressing the question of the validity of extra-biblical sources, especially Jewish sources. We look at several mentions in the Bible of extra-biblical works, explore the Greek word for “oracles” in Romans 3, then look at a particularly helpful extra-biblical source on Genesis 37:2 that draws many comparisons between Jacob and Joseph. We further apply these comparisons to both Israel and Yeshua, emphasizing a 3-step pattern of 1) blessing, 2) great pain, 3) rebirth with even greater blessing.
