Genesis 39
Continuing the Torah Project teaching series, we dig into the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife, the first of 3 stories in which Joseph is given authority over a domain. Reading Joseph as Messiah and reading Potiphar (and his wife) as the believer, we ask the question, “How can the believer tempt the Messiah to act inappropriately?” In teasing out an answer to this odd question, we look in detail at Yeshua’s temptation in Matthew 4, and we find dangerous examples of “Messiah-tempting” in the world of religious Christianity.
