Matthew 15

Join Beth Tikkun as we continue our study in Matthew’s gospel. In this study we analyze Yeshua’s response to the Pharisees concerning ritual hand washing as we discover His brilliant use of remez to issue a hidden rebuke. We learn also about the use of the Hebrews words for “curse” in the Hebrew scriptures.

Shalom and a very special greeting to you, Robin, and everyone there. Toda for such wonderful insights, we are blessed to have teachers of the Torah at this time on this earth. James 4:8 speaks about washing hands, this is a command for now isnt it? So do we now follow that command at table fellowship? Please explain, toda. Im really blessed by your message about Gehenna. And we are still awaiting your visit.

Dear Sharon, Thank you for your email and great question. I think the answer to James 4:8 (which states, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded”) can be found in Psalm 24:3-4 “Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, And has not sworn deceitfully.” Both verses are describing not a physical hand washing, but rather one who is pure both in his action (ie. ‘hands’) and motives (ie. ‘heart’). After all, it is possible to have one without the other. But God wants to have both. I hope this helps! Please give my greeting to all there in Trinidad. We mist you terribly and I would love to come for a visit! Shalom, Grant
