Dear Grant: What was the Hebrew word for law in Romans 8:2 that in this particular verse was *not* translated Torah? Thank you.

Dear Heather, The word that is used in Romans 8:2 (and is the standard word for “law”) is νομος (nomos). It is the word that is used for “law”, “principle”, “Torah”, etc. One must always look at the context in order to discover its meaning. Does this help?
