Vayikra 2018-19

Parshah Vayikra, the first portion in the heart of the Torah, gives us invaluable pictures of how we draw near to God. The main aim of this teaching is to lay a foundation for looking at the sacrifices as examples for how we can be living sacrifices, and, thereby, draw near to God. We start with a brief overview of the 5 types of sacrifice. Moving on, we mention rampant false Christian teachings regarding the sacrificial system, turning to Jeremiah 33 for necessary context regarding sacrifices in the Millennial Kingdom of Yeshua’s reign on Earth. Other topics in the teaching include pagan vs. Godly sacrifice, death in the animal kingdom, and 3 Hebrew words related to sacrifice – “karav,” “olah,” and “caphar.”

    thank you for the clarity!
i often think of the sacrifices when i prepare a roast for my family. is there any connection? does the meat we eat with thanksgiving have any meaning in our faith today?

I am very glad to have made the choice to spend Erev Shavuot listening to your first message on the book of Leviticus, but more important, opening the idea of what it is to be a living sacrifice for God! May we not take for granted that God in Yeshua removes our sin and just doesn’t excuse it or us. Hallelujah!
