Words and the Word

In this third Q&A teaching for 2020, we address the question, “What translation of the Bible do you use?” In the process of answering that question, we explore how it is that every Bible translation is a commentary. We also look at the main sections of the Bible, putting the Greek Scriptures into the context of the Bible as a whole. Lastly, we cover important tips for studying the Word.

Emotional is right on ! When coming into this truth, the struggle is real. But so wonderful! One can never go back.
Thank you once again, and I really look forward to the teaching you were talking about learning the Hebrew language.

Please let me know when you will be giving the 3 weeks of teaching on the Hebrew letters. Will it be on your web site for all to follow as I am in Australia and time differences would apply.

Dear Judith, Thank you for your interest in the Hebrew Alef-Beit course. I think we will do this sometime in the fall (your spring), and we are trying to figure out how to make this accessible to people online. It is a very active and interactive approach to learning the Alef-Beit and I have only ever done it in person. There is also a workbook that goes along with it and which is necessary for participating. All to say, that there are a lot of parts that go to making this presentation work. So, stay tuned as we figure out how to package this unique learning experience for those of you who cannot attend. Shalom, Grant

Dear Grant, Would you mind sharing the publisher of your NASB? I like the format of the version you use (from sample page). Thanks so much for any help you can give.
I’m also interested in a possible online Hebrew course. This is a whole new world to me and it’s opened up the Scriptures in a profound and exciting way. Thank you for teaching us how to discover more hidden gems in this spiritual “hide ‘n seek.”

Thank you for your question, Donna. The Bible I use is The New Inductive Study Bible (NISB), published by Harvest House. It uses the New American Standard Bible (NASB) translation. I highly recommend it. As to online Hebrew, I think one of the best things going is The Holy Language Institue. It is taught by a Canadian friend, Izzy Avraham. I think you will find his approach both effective and fun. Shalom! Grant
