In portion Chukat, we consider the value and power of the chukkim, decrees whose reasons have not been given, and we touch on why the Israelites were given the decree of the parah adumah (the red heifer), a law of purification that might have been better off in Leviticus with all the other purification legislation. Drawing on what we know of the mind and our human tendencies, we come to some practical advice.
