Genesis 43b-44
This Torah Project teaching begins by looking back to an interesting message contained within Genesis 43 verse 30. We find there the biblical Hebrew word that comes closest to our English word “emotion,” “nic’meru,” from the root “comer.” This amazing root yields a collection of meanings that, together, form a deeply instructive picture of the gift of human emotion. The proper relationship between the worlds of thought and emotion forms the backbone of the teaching. Moving on to chapter 44, we look at Joseph’s 4 tests for his 10 older brothers and how they pass those tests.
