Genesis 46
Smaller topics in this Torah Project teaching include a unique “poetic” connection between the lives of Jacob and Joseph, the question of why Jacob may have been reluctant to go down to Egypt, the symbolism of Egypt, a small verse in Genesis 46 that hints at Israel’s entire history (including the nation’s restoration through Yeshua), and insights into the number 70 and Jacob’s 70 descendants who make their way to Egypt. In the second half of the teaching, we look at echos of Joseph’s story in both Purim and Hanukkah.
