Grant: After Messiah’s discourse in John 13:12-17, His comment in the first half of V. 18 gave me pause. My CJB reads: I’m not talking to all of you – I know which ones I have chosen. It had been explained to me in the past that Yeshua always knew which disciple would betray Him and that He still chose Judas anyhow. Does the chosen quality in this verse speak to something else? Thanks, Heather

Heather, No, I think you have it exactly right. Yeshua chose all twelve of His disciples (Luke 6:13) knowing all along that Judas would betray Him. So when Yeshua says that He knows “the ones I have chosen”, He is saying, “I knew along what you, Judas, would do.” At least that’s how I interpret this. Great question!
