Toldot 2018-19

We begin this cycle’s parshah Toldot teaching with a brief look at how the Torah goes far beyond what a human would design for a religious book with its unexpected collections of stories and geneologies and building plans — all layered with unending levels of meaning. With that introduction, we discuss the interesting story of the twins Jacob and Esau, focusing our discussion on the Hebrew concepts of nephesh and neshamah, birthright and blessing, and faith and trust.
